TORONTO -- Even as he coaches another team in the Atlantic Division, Mike Babcock retains a deep appreciation for the Detroit Red Wings.
Babcock coached the Wings in 2005-15, before leaving to take over as bench boss of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Speaking this morning, in advance of the evening game at the Air Canada Centre (7:30, FSD), Babcock spoke about the competitiveness of Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg and about being part of the Wings’ 25-season streak of making the playoffs -- which is likely to end this spring.
That Zetterberg is leading the charge to make the playoffs, with nine points over the previous six games, is of no surprise to Babcock, who saw firsthand how Zetterberg operates.
