When NHL free agency opens Monday at 11 a.m. CT, the Stars will be looking for scoring help as they try to improve on a second-round exit in the postseason in May. It could come in the form of Joe Pavelski, the soon to be 35-year-old career-long Shark who scored 38 goals last season.
Pavelski visited the Stars last week during the unrestricted free agent contact period, and is also reportedly considering Tampa Bay after spending his entire 13-year career in San Jose. But the cap-strapped Sharks don't have money to spend on their captain after big deals handed out to Erik Karlsson, Logan Couture, Evander Kane and Brent Burns.
