The Columbus Blue Jackets were the “all-in” team of the past NHL season, foregoing opportunities to unload their impending unrestricted free agents at the trade deadline, and instead bulking up for an unlikely playoff run.

The strategy produced limited results, with the Blue Jackets stunning the heavily favored Tampa Bay Lightning with a four-game sweep in the first round to claim their first-ever playoff series win before ending their longest postseason run with a second-round loss to the Boston Bruins in six games.
