Cavs News: Cleveland Willing To Part With Thompson, LeBron Rips Team, & More

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in a slide right now, losing seven of their last nine games, but are hoping to turn things around in tonight's game against the Golden State Warriors. There's also only a few weeks until the trade deadline, and Cleveland is looking to find ways to upgrade their roster. Here are all the latest Cavs news & rumors you need to know:

Cavs willing to deal Tristan Thompson
The Cavs are known to be one of the most active teams ahead of the trade deadline, and with two first-round picks in the draft (including Brooklyn's pick), they plan to use those picks in order to go after a star player. And, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, Cleveland is willing to part with Tristan Thompson in such a deal.

Multiple NBA teams have cited Tristan Thompson as an asset Cleveland is willing to move in the right deal, such as one for the Los Angeles Clippers’ DeAndre Jordan. Nevertheless, the superstar talent of Oklahoma City’s Paul George or New Orleans’ DeMarcus Cousins, each deserving of that Nets first-rounder, won’t see the light in this trade market as of right now, league sources said, as those teams are fully focused on winning with each respective player.

Thompson, who is in the third-year of the five-year, $82 million contract he signed with the Cavs in 2015, is averaging 5.1 points and 5.8 rebounds in 19 minutes per game.

LeBron rips team
Cleveland's recent slide has dropped them to the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference behind the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors and LeBron James ripped into the team, saying they're "not ready" for the playoffs.

"Obviously Steph has been playing exceptional basketball since he came back," James said when talking about tonight's matchup against Golden State. "He had the one little mishap, I believe he hurt his ankle in shootaround, but he's been playing great basketball. It's going to take a little longer to get to where we need to be.

"We're not the team we would like to be when the postseason starts. Playoffs can start tomorrow for them and I think they'd be ready to go. For us, I don't think we're ready to go right now."

James is averaging 27.1 points, 8.8 assists, and 8.0 rebounds per game so far this season.

Isaiah Thomas not concerned with struggles
Isaiah Thomas has struggled in his past two games, shooting just 19.2 percent from the field, but he says he's not concerned about the struggles he has had in his return.

"I knew it was going to be like this," Thomas said after practice Sunday. "I have no legs. So it's going to take some time to get it back, even when I played well those first two games I told Coach (Tyronn) Lue it didn't feel right. It was kind of fool's gold.

"The shots were going in, but none of my movements, none of the things I usually do felt normal. It's going to be like that for a while. I've just got to be patient. I'm my biggest critic; I'm not a patient person. So it's killing me that ... to be, I'm used to stepping on the court and being special. So now I've got to work. I've got to work my way back and get my legs back and get my legs back to playing at a high level."

Thomas averaged a career-high 28.9 points and 5.9 assists per game last season for the Celtics. He also led the NBA in fourth-quarter points.
