The Carolina Panthers have been awarded the No. 16 pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft after finishing the 2018 season with a 7-9 record, the team announced tonight.
Carolina’s 33-14 victory over the Saints in Sunday’s season finale moved the Panthers to 7-9 – one of four teams to finish with that record. Twelve teams finished with a worse record than 7-9.
Based on strength of schedule calculations between the 7-9 teams (the worse your strength of schedule, the higher you pick), the Panthers will pick last among those teams, therefore 16th overall.
