Leafs look nothing like aimless squad that went to West Coast year ago

ANAHEIM - It was a hungry group of Maple Leafs that exited the ice after practice here this week and devoured a generous spread from In-N-Out Burger, the iconic California fast-food joint.

And unlike the team’s previous visit to the state for a three-game visit, this Leafs team has a robust appetite for more than a tasty burger and fries.

As much as Toronto coach Mike Babcock has conditioned his players to live in the moment and forget the horrors of last season, it’s difficult not to at least revisit the scene of the decline.

It was a year ago Wednesday that coach Randy Carlyle was officially sent packing and, soon after that, his players checked out with them.
