An interesting nugget about Saturday night’s NHL Draft Lottery is that Jack Eichel pretty much already knows his fate. Barring a stunning and unforeseen trade prior to the selections on June 26, the presumed No. 2 pick from Boston University can only land in Buffalo or Arizona.
That’s what makes Connor McDavid’s situation even more intriguing. The lottery is to draw the winner of the No. 1 pick, which is certain to be the Erie Otters star. And because the lottery features all 14 non-playoff teams, albeit at different odds, McDavid can pretty much go anywhere.
