Dzingel scores twice, Vejmelka big in net as Coyotes stun Maple Leafs, spoil Auston Matthews homecoming

Ryan Dzingel's first two-goal night since October 2019 spoiled a homecoming for Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews, and Karel Vejmelka shined in goal with saves to lead the Arizona Coyotes to a 2-1 win over Toronto Wednesday night.

Dzingel returned from injury and scored the game's first goal at 14:57 of the first period, putting in a puck the caromed to him off the boards behind the net. The Coyotes held onto the lead until 14 seconds into the third, when Scottsdale's Matthews' shot went between defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere's legs and past Vejmelka to tie the score.
