Cardinals' Daryl Washington applies for reinstatement

Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington has applied for reinstatement of his yearlong suspension.

Washington's agent, Jordan Woy, confirmed the request for reinstatement but had no further comment.

Mike Jurecki of XTRA Sports (910 AM) reported the reinstatement request came May 8.

NFL spokesman Greg Aeillo tweeted there was no change in Washington's status and "we have nothing further to report."

The Cardinals agreed in February 2014 to pay Washington a $10 million option bonus. In May 2014, he was suspended at least a year for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

Washington, who was suspended for the first four games of 2013 for violating a second policy stage in the program, forfeited all of his $2.
