Cardinals Coaching Rumors: Favorite To Fill Head Coaching Vacancy, Latest On Harold Goodwin

The Arizona Cardinals are trying to replace head coach Bruce Arians after he announced his retirement following the conclusion of the regular season, and their coaching search has really heated up over the past few days. Here are all the latest coaching rumors you need to know:

Pat Shurmur emerges as favorite to replace Bruce Arians
Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur has emerged as the favorite for the Cardinals head coaching job, according to ABC Arizona 15, and the Cardinals are hoping he will bring quarterback Case Keenum to Arizona with him.

Pat Shurmur has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Bruce Arians and become the Arizona Cardinals' next head coach, sources have told ABC15 sports director Craig Fouhy.

The 52-year-old Shurmur is currently the offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings. Sources have told Fouhy that Shurmur, who has already interviewed for the Cardinals job, is an attractive candidate in part because he could potentially lure Vikings QB and soon-to-be free agent Case Keenum to Arizona.

Shurmur has had one head coaching stint in his career, going 9-23 with the Cleveland Browns from 2011-12. He also went 1-0 as the interim head coach for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015.

Arizona is also looking for a new quarterback following Carson Palmer's retirement, and Keenum is set to hit free agency. In his first full season as a starter, replacing the injured Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater, Keenum has passed for 3,547 yards with 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions while leading the Vikings to a 13-3 record.
