Xavier's Goodin steadies and Mack catches a monkey

SAN JOSE, California – Head up, surveying the top of the Arizona defense, Quentin Goodin watched the ball roll…and roll…and roll, before cleanly picking it up and starting the eventual game-winning set for Xavier University on Thursday night at the SAP Center.

He’s a freshman by class, but in the Elite Eight, his opponents don’t feel that way.

“I think that whole class thing goes out the window once March starts,” Gonzaga senior guard Jordan Mathews said.

Goodin was thrust into a starting role Edmond Sumner was lost for the season at the very end of January, forcing his hand, and that of Musketeers head coach Chris Mack.
