Preseason accolades are starting to pile up for Xavier point guard Edmond Sumner.
Sumner on Monday was among 20 watch list players listed for the 2017 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award presented by College of the Holy Cross.
Named after Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic and Holy Cross guard Bob Cousy, the annual honor recognizes the top point guards in Division I men’s college basketball. Candidates were selected by a national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel and revealed by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Sumner, a 2016-17 Preseason First Team All-Big East selection by the league coaches, is coming off a standout freshman campaign where he earned Kyle Macy Freshman All-America honors and was a unanimous selection to the All-Big East Freshman Team.
