CHICAGO – After clinching at least a share of the Big East regular season championship Wednesday, Xavier basketball made clear it wanted no part of a co-championship.
In their regular season finale Saturday against the DePaul University Blue Demons, the Musketeers made sure they’d keep the title all to themselves.
Third-ranked Xavier (27-4, 15-3 Big East) dispatched DePaul (11-19, 4-14), 65-62, at Wintrust Arena.
The win marked Xavier’s men’s basketball’s first-ever outright Big East title, as well as its best-ever record in Big East conference play since joining the league five seasons ago.
