Xavier will require vaccinations/negative tests, masks to attend basketball games

The Xavier University Musketeers announced Wednesday new protocols would be in place for fans to attend games at the Cintas Center.

Effective immediately, fans attending games will need to either show proof of vaccination or a negative test within 72 hours before entry and wear a mask unless actively eating or drinking. The policy is currently in effect until Jan. 31.

"These policies mirror those that apply to Xavier’s more than 7,000 students and 1,000 employees," a release stated. “Our priority is the health and safety of our students, employees and fans attending our games. Given the transmissibility of the Omicron variant, we’re taking the same steps that have effectively limited COVID on Xavier’s campus over the last year,” Xavier Vice President and Director of Athletics Greg Christopher said in the release.
