Even on an off night, Xavier men's basketball is still better than most. That was proven earlier this season, and it was proven once again Saturday against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
Xavier head coach Chris Mack described his team's turnover-ridden first half as a "calamity." The final period featured better defense, but was still flawed. In the end, the No. 17 Musketeers were still good enough to take a 69-65 Skip Prosser Classic win against the unranked Demon Deacons (8-3).
A rowdy, season-high crowd of 10,407 attended.
In a game that featured nine ties and 11 lead changes, Xavier was nearly undone on the glass and by turnovers.
