NEW YORK – Tuesday's National Invitation Tournament semifinal at Madison Square Garden looked and sounded like a road game for Xavier's men's basketball team.
The crowd was behind St. Bonaventure, which brought a massive student section, but the Musketeers didn't seem to mind.
Xavier put together a complete, emphatic performance and held off a second-half rally from the Bonnies to win 84-77 and advance to Thursday's NIT championship game.
Xavier went on an early 12-0 run and built a 19-7 lead. Jack Nunge jumpstarted Xavier's offense right out of the gate and Colby Jones picked up where Nunge left off.
