CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – Garrett Wood is tied for fifth, pacing the men's golf team after the first round of the 2018 BIG EAST Championship on Sunday afternoon.
XU is just four strokes back of third place, while Wood is the same distance back of the top spot after earning All-BIG EAST First Team honors on Friday.
Wood finished the first round shooting a 73, one stroke above par, with four of Xavier's seven birdies. Wood was 1-over on the front nine after a blistering start saw him go 3-under through six holes only to run into a triple bogey on the par-4, 462 yard seventh hole.
