Roughly 275 students visited Cintas Center Saturday – all in masks and socially distanced – to watch Xavier's men's basketball team play an inter-squad scrimmage less than three weeks away from the scheduled start of the season.
After two 15-minute halves, the students cheered at the final buzzer following the first public look at Xavier's newest squad.
What they saw wasn't perfect, more like a work in progress.
But, for 30 minutes Saturday, the Musketeers displayed more than enough to be optimistic about the future of this season and beyond.
"It's been a long time since last March," Xavier head coach Travis Steele said after Saturday's scrimmage.
