LEXINGTON, Ky. - Xavier volleyball earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) Team Academic Award on Monday. A total of 973 teams were recognized for posting a team cumulative 3.30 grade point average or higher during the 2017-18 academic year.
Xavier was one of eight BIG EAST schools to earn the honors as DePaul, Seton Hall, Creighton, St. John's, Providence, Butler and Villanova also earned the recognition.
The Musketeers have now earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the third time in program history. Xavier also picked up the recognition in 2010 and 2013.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.
