CORRYVILLE - In the 86th edition of the basketball battle between two schools separated by four miles, the University of Cincinnati smothered the Xavier Musketeers with a "red swarming" defense to win 62-47.
A packed house of 12,513, mostly in red to match UC's uniforms of the day stood most of the game and were energized by high-flying Keith Williams and shots falling for top scorer Jarron Cumberland. Red streamers came from the ceiling after the victory.
Cumberland topped all scorers with 19 points while Williams had 16 in just his second Shootout of his career. Trevon Scott had his second straight double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.
