Less than a month from the start of the college basketball season, the Big East Conference held its virtual media day Wednesday, announcing the preseason coaches' poll and preseason awards.
Villanova, behind nine first-place votes, was picked to finish first, followed by Creighton, Providence, Connecticut, Seton Hall and Marquette.
Xavier was picked to finish seventh in the conference, ahead of Butler, St. John's, DePaul and Georgetown.
The coaches also picked Creighton junior guard Marcus Zegarowski as the conference's preseason player of the year.
Marquette forward Dawson Garcia was selected as the preseason freshman of the year.
