At Xavier, the obvious choice for a new basketball coach has never been the wrong choice. I’m sure athletic director Greg Christopher did thorough diligence. It could be the most important hire he ever makes. But he also applied common sense, and a sense of history, to the proceedings. Christopher didn’t overthink it or try to impress anyone by going for a national headline.
