Xavier University's athletic department confirmed Tuesday evening that an incoming freshman who was committed to run for Xavier's cross country and track and field teams will no longer be a part of either team following the discovery of offensive social media posts.
Twitter posts from the incoming freshman began circulating amongst current and former student-athletes at Xavier, many of whom voiced their concerns to the university.
"Over the last 24 hours, we became aware of a prospective student-athlete’s offensive social media posts. They do not reflect Xavier’s values or meet the expectations we have for our student-athletes as representatives of Xavier Univ.
