No. 6 Xavier survives St. John's scare, wins 73-68

QUEENS, New York — Xavier basketball was just good enough to close out its season series against St. John's the way it needed to.

The sixth-ranked Musketeers narrowly escaped St. John's Carnesecca Arena in their first game following a six-day layoff, winning Tuesday night, 73-83.

With the game tied with less than a minute to play, Xavier got three consecutive stops against St. John's on the defensive end and received the go-ahead bucket from graduate transfer Kerem Kanter.

Kanter went for 13 points in the game.

Trevon Bluiett then went to the line to ice the game, and did en route to finishing the night with a team-high 14 points
