MILWAUKEE – No. 5 men's soccer fell in penalty kicks, 7-6, after an epic 2-2 match in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals against No. 4 Marquette at Valley Fields.
The Musketeers close their season at 6-7-6 overall after a 4-4-1 run through the BIG EAST regular season.
Marquette moves to 7-8-2 and advances to the league semifinals for the first time since 2013.
XU struck first on a Derrick Otim goal in the 12th minute before a pair of unanswered goals by Marquette in the second half. Samson Sergi then delivered his fourth goal in a week to equalize the match in the 84th minute, helping to force overtime.
