WASHINGTON, D.C. -- One win down for Xavier basketball, two to go in its ongoing quest for its first-ever Big East Conference championship.
The fourth-ranked Musketeers took a step toward earning at least a share of the conference crown with an 89-77 win against Georgetown at Capital One Arena Wednesday.
The win allowed Xavier to improve to 25-4 overall and 13-3 in the Big East.
Georgetown dropped to 15-11 overall and 5-10 in the league.
The sweep of Georgetown by Xavier was the Musketeers' sixth sweep of a Big East foe this season.
Trevon Bluiett wasn’t a major factor in terms of scoring (two points 1 of 10 shooting) but that didn’t matter as his teammates picked up more than enough slack to take the win.
