Following a breakthrough year for the Musketeers, the Xavier women's soccer coaching staff, led by head coach Nate Lie, were unanimously selected as the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year. Lie, along with assistant coaches Kelsey Hunyadi, Renee Horton and Taylor Spradling, were the unanimous choices by league coaches following the regular season.
Lie was hired prior to the 2017 season, taking over a Xavier program that went 1-8 in BIG EAST play in 2016. The staff's impact was immediate, posting a winning record in conference play and earning a BIG EAST Championship berth in his first season.
