NEW YORK - Xavier men's golf freshman Garrett Wood was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team on Friday, earning the honor after leading the Musketeers in stroke average at eight tournaments.
The Mason, Ohio native has posted a 72.30 stroke average leading into conference tournament this weekend. His six top-25 finishes and four rounds in the 60's lead the team.
At the Loyola Intercollegiate in late February, Wood posted his first career top-10 with a 67-69-69 weekend. He has 10 rounds at par or better this season.
Wood was one of just two freshmen on either the first or second team.
