Jonas Hayes, who helped the Xavier Musketeers to an NIT Championship as interim head coach after the school parted ways with Travis Steele and before it hired Sean Miller, was introduced as Georgia State's new head coach during a news conference with GSU President M. Brian Blake and Director of Athletics Charlie Cobb.

Rob Lanier left the Panthers earlier this month to become the new head coach at SMU. GSU finished last season with an 18-11 record.
Hayes is expected to retain his brother, Jarvis, who was an assistant on Lanier's GSU staff.
