Seventeen hours after holding off St. John's in a 101-93 thriller at Madison Square Garden, Marquette will face Xavier in Thursday's 7 p.m. Big East Tournament quarterfinal.
The Red Storm trailed 58-30 at halftime but went on a sustained second-half run and took an 89-88 lead on a Ron Mvouika 3-pointer with 3:14 to go. Big East Freshman of the Year Henry Ellenson responded with a triple and the Golden Eagles outscored Chris Mullin's team 10-4 in the last two minutes.
Ellenson had a monster game with 27 points and 14 rebounds.
