GREENSBORO, N.C. - Jerome Hunter scored a career-high 24 points on Friday afternoon at Greensboro Coliseum, leading Xavier to a 72-67 win over Kennesaw State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Musketeers (26-9) advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, March 19. Xavier will play the winner of the Iowa State/Pitt game. The Owls' season comes to an end with a 26-9 record.
Trailing by as many as 13 points (61-48) with 9:57 left in regulation, the Musketeers engineered a 15-0 run to regain the lead (63-61) with just over four minutes on the clock.
