INDIANAPOLIS – When Victor Oladipo looks at Edmond Sumner, he sees himself in the Indiana Pacers second-year backup combo guard.
Sumner is longer. He wasn't draft in the lottery like Oladipo, but both players faced serious question marks coming into the NBA.
Like Oladipo, Sumner is being allowed by assistant coach/defensive coordinator Dan Burke to freelance on defense. His instincts and athleticism are too good to let them lay dormant.
