CINCINNATI - Former Xavier University Director of Athletics Jeff Fogelson passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 71. Details on services are pending.
Fogelson, who was inducted into the Xavier Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008, oversaw plenty of change in Xavier University's Athletic Department from 1983 to 1998.
Fogelson was hired in 1983 as XU's first-ever Associate Athletic Director to take some of the workload off of then Head Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Bob Staak, however he spent only a few months with that title. Xavier's President Charles Currie, S.J., promoted Fogelson in January of 1984 to take over as Xavier's Athletic Director.
