NASHVILLE – One of the most joyous seasons of Xavier basketball ended far sooner than many expected.

Xavier, the NCAA Tournament West Region's top seed, crashed out of the competition at the hands of the ninth-seeded Florida State Seminoles (23-11 overall).

FSU downed Xavier, 75-70, at Bridgestone Arena Sunday night, sending one of the all-time great Xavier University teams into the offseason.

The Musketeers won 29 games, the outright Big East Conference regular-season championship and enjoyed numerous other thrills throughout the 2017-18 season, but Xavier's sixth loss of the season proved to be its last.
