NEW YORK - Following a two-win weekend that clinched the 2021 BIG EAST regular season title for No. 17 Xavier women's soccer, a pair of Musketeers picked up weekly honor from the league offices on Monday. Ella Rogers was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, while Sonia Vargas earned a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll.
In a match with plenty of postseason implications, Rogers, originally from Granville, Ohio, came up clutch, scoring the game-winning goal for Xavier as the Musketeers defeated Butler 2-1 on Thursday. Rogers struck in the 59 minute, marking her fourth goal of the season and second of the game-winning variety.
