Crazy Joe blasted James Brown from speakers in his room at Brockman Hall and parked Pete Rose’s car at River Downs. He found the bars at night – “I socialized every which way,’’ he says – graduated, earned two Masters degrees then coached high school basketball for almost four decades. He says Luke Fickell is his second cousin.
He lost lots of games to teams coached by Charlie Huggins and claims Charlie’s son Bob as a friend. Rollie Massimino ate Italian at Crazy Joe’s dad’s house. Joe is 71 now and sees his life as one large slam dunk.
