SECAUCAS, N.J. - Sophomore Conor Grammes was selected in the 35th round of the 2018 MLB First Year Player Draft on Wednesday as the Baltimore Orioles used a selection to draft a Xavier baseball player for a second straight year.
Grammes is a draft-eligible sophomore due to age and was undrafted coming out of high school in McLean, Va.
Since coming to XU, Grammes has developed into one of the top hitters in the BIG EAST Conference and also projects to be a power reliever at the next level with a fastball that has touched 97 miles per hour.
