CINCINNATI - Xavier junior pitcher Conor Grammes was selected in the 2019 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, going to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the fifth round.
Grammes' selection marks the fourth-straight season a Musketeers has been selected in the draft, and the 13th time in the past 15 years a Xavier player has been selected.
The right-hander was an unanimous selection to the 2019 All-BIG EAST First Team after posting a 3.95 ERA in 14 appearances, the best mark among Xavier's starters. Grammes allowed 30 earned runs on 48 hits in 68.
