Coaches, players mourn legendary Pat Summitt

College

basketball legend Pat Summitt did not speak in her final public appearance in Cincinnati, but her presence was immense as she helped present the late Lauren Hill with one of the highest honors in the women’s game.

The former Tennessee coach, three years into her battle with Alzheimer’s disease, stood by Hill at Xavier’s sold-out Cintas Center on Nov. 1, 2014, after she was awarded the Pat Summitt Most Courageous Award based on a unanimous vote by the United States Basketball Writers Association.

Hill passed away in 2015 of an inoperable brain tumor. Now the world mourns Summitt, a Hall of Famer who led the Lady Vols to eight NCAA championships and forever impacted the game.
