NEW YORK - Xavier baseball's Chris Givin and Xavier women's golf's Mikayla Fitzpatrick were named Xavier's BIG EAST Institutional Scholar-Athletes of the Year for the 2018-19 academic year.
Each BIG EAST member institution has a male and female winner, with each winner receiving $2,000 toward graduate studies.
Mikayla Fitzpatrick is a junior on Xavier's women's golf team and became the first Xavier player to advance to the NCAA Championships in program history. Fitzpatrick led the Musketeers to the BIG EAST Championships earlier this month - the program's first conference title - to earn the team's first NCAA Championship berth.
