It was an ending that will hurt for the foreseeable future on Victory Parkway.
A ridiculous 3-point play from Naji Marshall with eight seconds left gave Xavier a 71-69 lead over Butler.
The only problem for Xavier was that Butler's Kamar Baldwin had the ball and time to work.
Baldwin came off a screen and got separation, far too much of it, and drilled the game-winning 3-pointer, handing Xavier a 72-71 loss.
Baldwin finished with a career-high 36 points. Naji Marshall led Xavier with 21 points.
Xavier finishes the regular season 19-12 overall and 8-10 in Big East Conference play.
