OMAHA, Neb. - Brant Alazaus threw a complete-game shutout on Friday night, leading the Musketeers to an 11-0 series-opening win at Creighton at Charles Schwab Field Omaha.
The Musketeers improved to 28-17 (9-4 BIG EAST), while the Bluejays dropped to 22-16 (9-4 BIG EAST).
The complete-game by Alazaus is the second of the season by a Musketeer. Ethan Bosacker also had a complete-game performance at Villanova on April 21 (W, 8-4).
Xavier's pitching staff has now recorded two shutouts this season. The Musketeers also had a shutout on March 3 at UC Santa Barbara (W, 2-0).
