CINCINNATI - Senior tandem Anniina Äijänen and combined for 32 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists on Wednesday night, leading the Musketeers to a 62-50 win over Fort Wayne.
Xavier improved to 4-1 on the year, while Fort Wayne dropped to 2-4.
• Xavier hit its first three shots to take an early 7-0 lead and force a Fort Wayne timeout. The Musketeers led from start to finish with the Mastodons only getting as close as one point, 19-18, with seven minutes left in the first half.
• Xavier closed the first half on a 13-9 run to take a 32-24 advantage into the locker room.
