It's five losses and counting for Xavier men's basketball at the worst time of the year for a losing streak.
At a time when teams want to be riding a hot hand, the Musketeers' hands are decidedly cool following Sunday's 88-79 loss to then-No. 22 Butler.
The defeat puts the 2016-17 Xavier squad in the company of the 1981-82 Musketeers which also had five-straight losses. That crop of Musketeers lost six in a row in January of 1982.
Hope is far from lost as Xavier has at least three more chances to prop up its NCAA Tournament resume, but Xavier Nation could be sweating it out on Selection Sunday if things don't take a turn for the better soon.
