Wyoming's Meredith, Colgan win Big 12 wrestling championships

University of Wyoming seniors Archie Colgan and Bryce Meredith both won titles at the Big 12 Wrestling Championship on Sunday in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Meredith, wrestling at 141 pounds, went 3-0 for the weekend and capped the meet by defeating two-time defending national champ Dean Heil from Oklahoma State. It was Meredith's second victory over Heil this season.

Meredith trailed 3-2 after the first period but rallied late to earn a 6-5 decision. The Cheyenne Central graduate and nation's top-ranked wrestler at 141 pounds was named the meet's Most Outstanding Wrestler.

Colgan also went 3-0 on the weekend, defeating top-ranked Clay Ream of North Dakota State in the 157-pound championship match.
