Wyoming women's golf team is sixth after first day at Cowgirl Classic

The University of Wyoming women's golf team finished the first day of the Cowgirl Classic on Thursday in Maricopa, Arizona, in sixth place.

After opening with a 293 (+5) in the first round, which tied for the second-best score in program history, the Cowgirls carded a 308 (+20) in the second round to finish with a 601.

Freshman Erin Sargent led UW with a two-round total of 3-over 147 to end the first day in the Top 10.

Sophomore Megan Knadler was tied for 12th with a 148, followed by senior Mackenzie Barrie (+9), Gabrielle Gibson (+11) and Sarah Hankins (+11).
