The University of Wyoming volleyball team used a balanced attack in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-15) victory over South Dakota on Friday in the Rumble in the Rockies tournament in Laramie.
Emily Lewis had a match-high 14 kills for the Cowgirls in their season-opening win, while Hailie McCardle added eight, Jackie McBride and Tara Traphagan had seven apiece and Marissa Harmon six.
Harmon also had 38 assists and Madi Fields finished with 15 digs.
Saturday, the Cowgirls lost a hard-fought 3-1 (23-25, 29-27, 21-25, 23-25) decision to Abilene Christian.
Traphagan (20) and Lewis (10) combined for 30 kills, Harmon had a career-high 40 assists, and Fields (16) and Lily Austin (11) combined for 27 digs in the loss.
