Wyoming volleyball splits matches against Marquette, Kansas

The Wyoming volleyball team won its opening match of the UniWyo Pistol Pete's Showdown on Friday afternoon in Laramie, defeating Marquette 3-2 in five sets (25-20, 25-19, 23-25, 24-26, 15-12). The Cowgirls fell to No. 22 Kansas in three sets later Friday night.

Bridget Shanahan led the Cowgirls with 18 kills on a .366 hitting percentage against Marquette. Kayla Slofkiss chipped in 14 kills while Laura Beach had 10. Cori Aafedt led Wyoming with 24 assists while Courtney Chacon also dished out 22 of her own. Allison Waldvogel and Slofkiss each recorded 12 digs in the match.

Beach led the Cowgirls with six kills against Kansas while Slofkiss had nine digs and four kills.
