Wyoming track and field athletes struggle at West Preliminary

The University of Wyoming track and field team failed to have an athlete qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the West Preliminary on Friday.

An athlete needs to finish in the Top 12 to advance to the NCAA Championships.

Audra DeStefano, a junior from Gillette, suffered an injury during the 3000-meter steeplechase and did not finish the event. Tyler Anderson, a senior from Lovell, finished 23rd in the hammer throw to lead UW's efforts Friday.

Also competing were senior Sabina Sandberg (26th, high jump), senior McKenzie Brogan (31st, 400 hurdles), freshman Bryce Ailshie (35th, 800) and junior Jordan Charles (44th, 400 hurdles).
