University of Wyoming soccer's Taylor Burton was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year on Monday.
Burton, a senior from Centennial, Colorado, helped the Cowgirls (12-3-4, 7-2-2 MW) post eight shutouts on the season and a second-place finish in the regular season.
Senior Annika Clayton, who tied for the team lead with four goals, was named to the second team; and freshman Savannah Warner, who has scored two goals, was selected to the All-Newcomer team.
Wyoming will play in the semifinals of the MW Championships on Thursday. The Cowgirls will play the winner of Wednesday's game between New Mexico and Colorado College.
